This is a beautiful Staurolite "Fairy Cross" specimen from Keivy, Kola Peninsula, Russia. Notice the excellent cross formation! The matrix rock is called Schist (a type of metamorphic rock) and has a beautiful sparkly silver appearance (the silvery sparkle does not show well in photos, because the camera has difficulty focusing on it … it is much prettier in person). This is an excellent size and shape for jewelry. Very pretty! Staurolite is also referred to as "Fairy Stone" and is considered a talisman of good fortune. |
