This is a beautiful Staurolite specimen from Keivy, Kola Peninsula, Russia. The matrix rock is called Schist (a type of metamorphic rock) and has a beautiful sparkly silver appearance (the silvery sparkle does not show well in photos, because the camera has difficulty focusing on it … it is much prettier in person). Staurolite is also referred to as "Fairy Stone" and is considered a talisman of good fortune.
